How to get 2 year old to stay in bed

DS just turned 2 at the beginning of June. We transitioned him into a single floor bed two nights ago. He needs us to stay in the room with him to fall asleep and both nights has woken up at 4am running through and either myself or my husband has then had to lie in the bed with him until he falls asleep.

Any suggestions how we can get him to independently fall asleep and also stay in bed all night without us with him? 🤯

TIA!

Hi @Soontobemumof2kids , sorry to see you had no replies to this. We’re dealing with the exact same scenario - won’t fall asleep independently (he just gets up and walks out of room) and is waking and coming into our room in the middle of the night and we have to take him back to bed and stay with him. Did you find a solution?!

Sorry you’re in the same situation - it is so difficult! My little boy is now sleeping through the night in his own bed until around 6.30 but he still doesn’t fall asleep independently, no matter how hard we try. As for sleeping through on his own; we didn’t change anything, just kept taking him back through to his own bed every time he woke up through the night and eventually he got the message. It did take a good few months for us though. Fingers crossed he improves for you soon!
