8MO not interested in weaning

My 8MO is just not interested in food on our weaning journey. He didn’t show many signs of being ready at 6MO, certainly no interest in food or raising items to his mouth, so we waited/went on holiday etc and tried again at 7MO. I’m persevering but it is no better now than it was 2 months ago. BLW worked well for my eldest but there’s no hope of that as he won’t raise his hand to his mouth at all, he literally puts nothing in it…he’s a basher now a chewer! I’m just not getting very far and I’m worrying…interested to know of any mummy’s with similar challenges, especially with stories of hope!

My daughter was 13 months before she engaged. At 8 months we could get a few spoons in but only if it contained spinach.

I wouldn't fret too much about meal times but get food out and around throughout the day to explore

DS was like this until around 12 months, he just didn't seem that interested in food much either. The best thing is just not to force it, luckhe had an older sister so watching her eat probably helped a little bit.

I BLWed both mine. I was amazed when my second ate the food at 6 months as my oldest barely ate a thing till 10 months - she is the better eater now. I had gone back to work by 10 months so she was getting less milk, that may have made her hungrier.

None of my four have had much interest in food until 9 months. Anything I did get in came out undigested anyway, so it felt like I was just prepping and dirtying bins for no reason! Older 3 all eat perfectly well now, so im not too stressed that DC4 doeant seem bothered

My DD was the same....had abit of pureed foods but no interest in finger foods....health visitor said keep trying and go back if she was still doing it and suddenly at 8/9 months she began showing an interest (I think once her fine motor skills became more developed) so i'm sure your little one will get there too.
Mine just loved her milk!

Thanks everyone! My little boy just doesn’t care, and I can’t say he loves his Neocate formula either (don’t blame him, it smells like rotten swimming pool water to me!) I guess all will come right in the end :)

My eldest was almost one before starting to try food rather than just mash it. As long as baby is playing with it I wouldn't worry until one. It's a very individual sensory journey.
