I have a 2yo little boy, he's so happy and full of energy, always bouncing around and loves to play independently. There a few things that are concerning me, mainly being-
-he does not know or say any words other than mama, dada. He can follow one or two simple institutions such as come here or pass me your shoes. Any other simple command and he does not understand.
-he will not point, follow where I am pointing, or wave.
-he walks almost everywhere on his tip toes, shoes on or off.
-he does alot of what I would call stimming, making lots of weird loud noises while doing lots of erratic hand movements.
- he constantly headbutts, me, the walls, the sofa, the cabinets, pretty much everything.
-he will not sit and read and book or anything like that, he loses interest pretty quickly and wanders off.
-he Hates loud noises and will constantly cover his ears
He is very energetic, he is very affectionate but he is very fussy he will not go to anyone but me, he doesn't like other children and just tries to hit them if they go near him.
I spoke to the HV and we have a group lined up for September for children with emerging needs, he has not had his 2 year ages and stages officially but he doesn't meet hardly any of the criteria for it. His gross motor skills are good, he fiddles with tiny things, food with his hands etc and can even hold a pencil now. But it's the above things that are concerning me. I'm not really sure how to go about trying to encourage him. I think he may be autistic but how would I go about getting this confirmed or diagnosed, And does this sound like it could be autism or something else? Anyone have any experience or advice?
