4yo won't be alone when together at home

Hello, I have a nearly 4yo DD. She goes to a private nursery, has done since 13 months, three days a week while I work. On other days we go to playgroups, swimming classes, days out etc. Away from home she's very happy to go off on her own and explore or get involved in things without needing me. At home she will not be left alone for even a few minutes. She whines/gets upset if I so much as go to the toilet or pop to do a job, even if her Dad is home. She also has a younger brother (2) who is always home when she is. I've tried sitting and playing with her for a while before saying I need to do something, using a visual timer for when I'll be back, and just holding firm and closing stairgate while I go upstairs, for example, even if she rants and rages. If she stops crying and is calm when I get back I give her praise for not shouting and finding something to play with etc. Is this just usual for a preschooler and something she'll grow out of? It's so tiring. We have similar at bed where she won't be left alone after stories and now one of us stays with her until she's asleep as bedtime is generally over quite quickly then.
