Hello Everyone,
Since my child joined receiption he was struggling to settle in school. There was so many teacher changes, consequences of sending out to other class this kind of activity was going on. We had to move his school to try he will settle down.
Unfortunately in this school he did not settle down too. Just to mentioned recently he diagnosed ADHD and the result is border line.
I informed that to new school but they did not take any action , my child behaviour was getting worse, I called a meeting where they apologise for their action and put him on behavioural plan (last month). But by that time it was too late. As per behavioural plan he meant to send calming room when he is not in his best behaviour, but teachers are unable to make him listen and two to three person hold him and take him to calming room and when my child still struggle to calm down they lock them inside the room (with an adult) , last week they lock him alone, and adult was watching from window.
I feel really out of track as its been happening everyday few times a day he has been gabbed and taken away to calming room and they locked him.
To me I feel like we are treating him like an animal, where he is getting more angry, he is loosing that believe he can do something good. I scare to send him school.
any expert comment or support will be appreciated.
(PS- This school os upto year 2, I have to change my child school this september. I don’t know where to take him, to his old school or search for another new school. My child’s old school was a catholic school)

I'm so sorry that your DS is struggling so much. I don't really know what to suggest?

Maybe if you post in the SN Children section the lovely MNers in there can help you with things like trying him with Medication, applying for an ECHP and what that might include.

Has he had an Occupational Therapy referral?

And how does he do on this simple SLT progress checker?

Sorry about your son, I am no expert but locking such a small child in a "calming room" seems horrendous and I have never heard about that in mainstream schools. Have you spoken with an educational psychologist? Who has devised that behaviour plan? I would look around for another school that would be able to meet his needs, good luck!

How are you both today @Lida2024? Flowers
