Are petting zoos safe for babies?

Want to take my 9 month old to the petting farm. I know when you're pregnant you are supposed to steer clear of sheep and lambing but not sure what the risk is to babies? LO will be in her buggy the whole time so it's not like she will actually be touching the animals so I would have thought it's actually safer than taking a toddler??

There's a soft play at the farm so maybe there's a bit of risk from that if older children have been petting animals and not washed their hands properly and then go around the soft play, but I would have thought that's not a huge risk, especially as my baby isn't a newborn. What are your thoughts? She is just on the cusp of starting to show interest in animals so think she will enjoy it (not as much as a toddler obviously).

Yes the baby will be fine, if she does touch the animals just have a wipe at the ready. Kids probably get worse bugs from soft play than a goat !

Soft play In general are disgusting not just because it's on a farm.

It’s fine. Just wash her hands after she’s touched animals/played in soft play. Don’t let her eat any poop and you’ll be grand.
TBH, I’d be more concerned about the animals than the babies at these things.
