Hi my 18 year old son will be going to university in September and has been granted a maintenance loan does any one know how this will affect my uc claim I’m a single parent and will still be claiming for 3 children 2 with disabilities

No, it will not make a difference. He will not be on your claim anymore and will be viewed as living away.

He will still be living at home with me while he’s is at uni

As he'll be over 18 he'll be expected to be independent. You won't be able to claim UC for him even if he is still living at home. He'll get a maintenance loan. He might even get a bursary from uni as you are on benefits. He can pay for his food from that if he's still living at home.

Definitely check out the Uni's website regarding Bursaries as he may have to apply for these.

@caringcarer thank you yea I know I won’t be able to claim for him as it will end in August I just didn’t know if they take money from me with him getting his maintenance loan

I don't know about your DS but I had to check them out a boot firmly up DS' arse to get him to apply...
