Fussy eater/ toddler refusing food. HELP 🙏

Hi,

so my son is 17 months. We went the traditional weaning route as he initially didn’t like holding/touching food. Normally a great eater.

last week I think he got a tummy bug so had bad diarrhoea for 5 days but seems fine now. Problem is eating. All of a sudden he is refusing the food I give him. Turns his head, cries, spits it out. Seems to eat fine at nursery and at grandparents during the days in the week it’s just tea time.

i have tried later tea time incase not hungry. One day he ate crisps/yoghurt/fruit etc instead. I’m starting to think he’s trying it on with me so he can eat other things rather than the meal. I have gone back to food he had had before like spag bowl etc but nope.

now do i give it so he has something to eat or not then he might be hungry? I don’t know what to do because I don’t want to reinforce the behaviour

Carry on as you were before. He'll eat when he's hungry. Eat as a family and serve a variety of food. Don't start feeding him something else if he refuses.
