Long story short guys. My son hasn't had the best start to life he was born at 36+3 , in the nicu on oxygen for a week. Since he came home we've had problem after problem. Severe reflux / choking / spitting milk out the sides of his mouth every bottle. Screaming all day arching his back. He's been on so many different milks I.e prescription milks non of them have worked he's now 2 month old on hipp organic and starting gaviscon as the carobel he has started to go off it and not finish his bottles with it in! He's had bellyache all day before me giving him his first gaviscon due to him changing from hipp comfort too hipp normal very unsettled for 2 days. I don't know what to do anymore he's cried for 2 months everyday he's so misrible from the time he goes to sleep to the minute he wakes up , I'm so exhausted and down not knowing what's going on. We have an appointment for a tongue tie evaluation next week. How do I stop the constipation ? It feels like I'm treating one problem and gaining another! Anyone else had this ?

What gaviscon dose are you giving at the moment? I found the recommended dose (2 sachets a bottle I believe) was waaaaaaay too much for my LO. He was born 36+5 and went on gaviscon at around 9 weeks. I think I took it down to 1 sachet a bottle and he was less and the gaviscon was still effective so I kept it at a half dose. I actually thinks I did full sachet in morning bottle, half sachet for daytime ones and a full sachet for bedtime bottle as one was on an empty stomach and the other was before being laid down for bed.

I have gave his first one and only gave 1 sachet I've read a lot about giving 2 causing extreme constipation! , I also have doctor prescribing lactulose tommorow too, I might try your method. My boy is 9 weeks on Monday, I've just had enough of not knowing what's wrong he has terrible bellyache and I'm not sure what from , could be the fact I've started to give him normal milk through the day and 1 ready to feed bottle through the night ?
