School absence fines for a 4 year old

Hi all,

Could someone please help me clarify?

My daughter is 4 years old and she will be starting reception in September, I am planning to take her out of school for 2 weeks in November to go to her aunties wedding which is being held abroad.

In my understanding, her new school will not approve the holiday, but I can still take her out with unauthorised absence. However as she is under 5, will we still get a fine?

Thank you.

My friend did this and no fine as not compulsory education.

It depends on the LEA, some will say under compulsory age, you're fine. Others say if you are sending her full-time then the rules apply to her as all others.

Okay, thank you both!
