18 month old change in sleep

Hi

I'm a FTM so I'm not sure if this is a thing...

My DD is 18 months old. She used to wake up around 6am every morning. For most of the last year to be honest. The last two mornings she has been having a lie in till 7.45am (very surprised) and has decreased her day nap to just less than an hour (instead of 1.5 hours).

Is this what toddlers do? Is she trying to reduce her day nap?

Thank you!

It’s pretty normal for toddlers to change nap times and night sleep routines. Have you tried putting her down for a nap earlier or later in the day? I found at that age that my little one preferred one long nap at the middle of the day and then went to bed around 7ish and slept through until 7.
You might find that she changes her sleep routine again!

Hi there,

It's quite common for toddlers to adjust their sleep patterns as they grow. Your daughter might be naturally shifting her schedule and needing less daytime sleep. This change in her nap duration and wake-up time is likely her way of adapting to her developmental needs. As long as she seems well-rested and happy, there's no need to worry.

Thank you!

Aah thank you both so much for replying in a kind and understanding manner. I always fear I'll get a telling off for some reason or another haha! Thank you!
