My baby has days where he's alert and awake for ages

Then some days where he's much more sleepy and sleeps all day

Is this normal

How old is the baby?

7 weeks corrected age, 13 weeks. Baby was 6 weeks premature

Totally normal from my experience and in observing my grandson. As long as the baby is feeding and gaining well and everything else is ticking along, the baby is probably just fine.

My baby is 5 weeks old and this is definitely the case for us, and for her older sister when she was a baby too.

Mine is having a very sleepy day today and was a lot more 'active' yesterday.

Completely normal. Mine only settled into a more predictable rhythm of sleep vs awake around 5 months. But even then he’d still have days that surprised me!

Completely normal. With both my DD and my DS I flitted between being worried they were sleeping too much one day to stressing they weren't sleeping enough the next. I can't even remember when it 'settled down' but DS is 7 months now and on 2 naps a day and things are much more structured. At the newborn stage I think it's just a case of go with the flow and enjoy the sleepy snuggles

My baby is 10 weeks old and acts like this! I find he sleeps better at night on his ‘sleepy’ days than the days he’s more alert too.

Completely normal at that age, congratulations on your new baby!
