Does anyone’s DC get additional hours at nursery due to receiving DLA?

Just that really. How many additional hours do you get and how did you apply for it? Am I right in thinking it’s the Local Authority who funds it? Any help would be much appreciated!

This is not a form of funding that I'm aware of and I've worked in a relevant position within early years settings for over a decade.
You may be thinking of DAF or Disability Access Fund, which can be applied for when children have been awarded DLA. This is an amount of around £900 per year which can be used by early years settings to purchase resources or make adaptations/reasonable adjustments

etc to promote inclusion and learning opportunities. This is applied for by settings and I believe some localities do stipulate that it cannot be used to cover sessions etc. But worth asking your local authority who are as you say responsible for this.

Most areas also have access to inclusion funding, but again this comes with stipulations. In my area you cannot use it to fund 1-1 or extra/any sessions at nursery.

Is your child in a setting? Worth asking the senco or manager. Or if not, your councils early years or send team would be able to advise you. Things are so different in each area!

I was told to claim DLA for my son in 2019 and the upon successfully claiming carers allowence he was awarded 32hrs at a nursery that had a specialist unit for SEN.
I was given a code by the HMRC that I had to use.

Thank you both! I’ve just done some more research and I was confusing the funded hours that 2 year olds that receive DLA can get.

If I claim carers allowance then DD will receive 30 funded hours which is great
