bottle feeding - formula / expressed breast milk

Hi everyone I am a new mum and was wondering if anyone have any advice around bottle feeding formula / and expressed breast milk, has anyone found a good schedule or an order in which you give formula/breast milk? Or any tips would be great! I’ve read that storing breast pump in fridge in zip lock bag for the day helps take the pressure off cleaning and sterilising it after every use.

I want to mainly give breast milk with the odd formula, however, I am a new mum so still trying to up my supply, but I just don’t want to be pumping all day every day. So hoping to find that right balance.

also ……

  1. I have made a bottle on the perfect prep machine but my new born isn’t taking 4oz yet can I separate the remaining milk into another bottle and store it in the fridge straight away to have for later (within 24hours) ? Or do I need to let it cool down to room temp?
  2. When pumping do I put the freshly expressed milk straight into the fridge or do I need to wait for that to cool first?

Thanks in advance!!

I do the same. I mainly pump with the occasional feeding directly on me. I put freshly pumped milk straight into the fridge, either in bags or bottles.

I will separate out the milk and combine the milk from different pumping sessions but only when they are the same temperature. Ie. When they have cooled down in the fridge.

If you have already heated the milk but my baby hasnt finished it, then i will sometimes save it and let him drink it later if he wants. But only in roughly the next two hours. I only reheat once. If he doesnt want it after two hours, then i get rid - just in case.
