Weight gain with preventer steroid inhaler?

Has anyone’s child put on a lot of weight after being prescribed a preventer inhaler? It’s the only thing that’s changed for dd and since she’s been on it she’s put on a lot of weight. In the 3/4 months prior to being prescribed it she had courses of oral steroids so that may have contributed but hasnt needed those since having inhalers. Just a bit worried and hoping it will stabilise ? Do I just need to wait and see ? The gp said it’s unlikely to be that but her diet hasn’t changed. She’s 4

What colour is the preventer inhaler? Is that the brown one?

Ah I see. My youngest was on the steroid inhaler continually and quite a high dose for about 6 months and there wasn't any weight gain for her. We have a specialist asthma nurse and she said the only effect can be a sore throat so to do it before you brush their teeth at night.

Oral steroids can cause weight gain due to increased appetite, but the inhalers won't cause weight gain.

Sometimes what can happen is the child - which hasn't eaten well for a while due to asthma symptoms - now feels well and eats better or more.

I’m wondering if it was that as prior to treatment she lost so much weight as was just struggling to breathe nearly constantly it must have burnt so much energy and this is some kind of rebound effect ? Hoping it will all just even out

Inhaled steroids don't affect weight.

Was DC ill a lot before starting the meds? Just wondering if maybe now they are if they are better they have a bigger appetite and so are just growing more? I always found mine grew out and then up if that makes sense!
