duvet in a cot bed with sides up

toddler is nearly 21 months so I know a duvet / pillow is fine but is it ok in a cotbed with the sides up? or do the sides need to be down? He sleeps well in his cot and has never tried to climb out so I'm happy to keep that as is but he's tall and the 36m sleeping back is getting restrictive around his legs. I'd rather not buy more bags if he's potentially going in to a bed within a year (ish).

so is it ok to use a duvet in a cot bed with all the sides still up? thanks! (and sorry if it's a daft q)

We got our son a cotbed duvet and pillow with his sides still up. They're a lot smaller and lighter (we have a lighter tog one for summer and slightly heavier tog for winter but both are cotbed sizes). Our DS seemed fine with this although it took him a little while to learn to tuck himself up if he got cold. I don't think there's any official guidance on it, only that you know your child best and if you think they will be fine with it x
