Did anyone else find the 9 month + age much harder than the newborn stage? I am find it so much more demanding

Yes. With both my kids. They were awful to deal with until they mastered crawling (8 and 10 months respectively), then hated being unable to walk. They also didn't sleep through the night until after they walked, which they did at 16 and 17.5 months respectively. I needed medication for my PPD as it dramatically worsened when my second was 8 months old.

As a light at the end of the tunnel, after about 18 months (once they were proper toddlers), they became absolutely delightful. They sleep through the night, they can walk, they've got some understanding, and even some language of their own. It must be incredibly frustrating for them until then.

It will get better.
