Hiya - trying to figure out if my baby is teething! He's almost 13 weeks.

He's been a generally unsettled baby and recently switched to a new EHF (formula) for potential CMPA so I am trying to figure out if he's annoyed because of that or if he's teething! We've been on the formula since Monday.

His sleep is bad (it always has been, but it's been up and down this week particularly) - he did 2, 1 1 1 and so on last night. He's also waking in his naps after 30 mins, sometimes really screaming.

He's dribbling a lot and putting what he can into his mouth (pretty much just his hands at the moment).

He's also eating less - he's becoming fussier at the bottle, only having an ounces and then gumming the bottle.

When he was crying earlier I was looking at his gums and can see a bit of white but not sure if this is a tooth or something else?! I can’t feel anything there

He had a red cheek a couple days ago but it wasn’t obvious and I couldn’t tell if I was just imagining things!

Teething help please!

I could have written this myself. My DD2 is 14 weeks and has been what I can only describe as a bit miserable this week, randomly cries like she's in pain (which she's never done before) and also starting to dribble alot. Also, she's constantly got her fist in her mouth! I can't remember what age my DD1 started teething but I feel like 14 weeks is generally too early?

@Amae well I was just googling it and apparently it can start at 3 months but they don't cut the tooth until a bit later! It's hard when the signs of teething could be literally anything else also 🤪

I had the same at the same age. Now a few weeks on, no tooth yet but sleep has settled somewhat.

Interesting! Maybe it is that then? She had her jabs on Tuesday so I sort of put it down to that but the dribbling and the hand constantly in her mouth was what made me think teething, fingers crossed for both of us it passes soon (until the next tooth) xx

@beigecolourpalette I didn't want to read & run...but when I saw your photo I thought 🥹 there's the tushies! I remember my little boy being like this just before cutting first teeth & the photo looks exactly the same. I too had a challenge with CMPA & could never quite figure if it was an intolerance or the teeth but, now I look back it was the teeth mostly. I found Ashton Parsons teething powder to be a total godsend! As well as anbesol (the liquid rather than the gel). Teething is such a tough stage, the movement of them through the gums is the toughest bit but once they poke through your little on will feel so much better. Hang on in there, it sounds like you're doing a great job & everything you can for your little one x

@Bluemeadowbaby thanks!! Oh no, now I'm so confused about what has been what haha! We gave him a dose of calpol tonight and he just slept for FIVE HOURS which he has literally never done. Has he just been in pain this whole time 😞

Probably has but at least you know now. Just to say, Neurofen is better than Calpol for teething because it's anti inflammatory so it helps the swelling in the gums. Sympathies, I remember this part so well. Mine is cutting his back teeth now and they're a doozy😅
