How to get 13mo off dummy at bedtimes

Hi, I'm hoping to get rid of the dummy for my 13mo soon as she's become so reliant on it at bedtime and it's causing us issues now! She only has it for naptimes and bedtimes but she won't go to sleep without it at the moment, do I just go cold turkey or any other suggestions?! Thanks

What are the issues? I found it painless when we waited until my LO was around 3. We told her Father Christmas was going to take them to go to little babies who needed them 🙈

She's started to drop it out of the cot (I think because she knows we then have to come in and give it back to her) and when it falls out in the night she wakes up crying for it to be put back in. We've put 4 or 5 dummies in the cot with her in the hope she'll find one and put it back in herself but this rarely happens! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Try putting 10 in the cot and leaving a dim night light on. Seriously, if I put 9 in we’d have trouble. Then I’d plan to get rid around their 3rd birthday when they actually understand.

It's a good sleeping aid.

As pp, you need them dotted round and glow in the dark ones.

I think taking it from her now would be cruel. Leave it another year! Put lots in the cot including glow in the dark ones.

Definitely glow in the dark dummies or do what I did, tie a dummy to each corner of a muslin, ds never lost it then because he used to cuddle the muslin & stroke the silky ticket.

i let my children have dummies until their second birthday, they were very good at only having them in their cots but as I had three under the age of 4, a good sleep routine was important to me and dummies helped settle them. In fact, they all had a decent afternoon sleep until they started school the September after their 4th birthday.

The dummy fairy came and took them away on their second birthday! Worked every time without stress.
