Wetting through nappy - 4.5 MO boy

For the last 1.5 weeks when my son wakes in the night and I go in he’s wet. Hes 4.5 months and between 7.5-8 kg.

His nappy isn’t super full, and it’s always out his left side/back.

We always make sure the back is up, sides pulled out and penis is down. We went up to a size 4 a few weeks back and thought it was that and maybe they were to big, so went back down to a size 3 and he didn’t do it for a few nights but now he’s started again and it’s creeping earlier in the night. He can go 8-11 hrs but woke at 1.30 and started to cry and knew it was because he was wet because it was so early in the night for him.

We use pampers dry nights. And also make sure his bodysuit isn’t too tight so doesn’t dig into nappy.

What are we doing wrong? Any tips to stop it happening? Never had this issue with my daughter.

Is it possible he is cold at night?

I'd suggest trying different brands, they all differ slightly in shape and its sometimes just a case of finding the right fit.

Another option is trying some washable boosters

Best thing for us was nappy pants, as our son moves alot at might and his movements meant the nappy would eventually get a gap at the top. Pants have that elasticated bit so it conforms all night, we use pampers. Rest of the day just normal nappies as we can change them more frequently. I think pants come in alpt of sizes, definitely size 4 and up.

double the nappy, put one around the wrong way over the one that is on correctly

I switched around 5 months to pampers night time nappy pants for bedtime, always a size up for us . I’ve not had any issues leaking since as I can pull them all the way up at the front where the wee was gathering and eventually leaking out the sides. We use the daytime versions now as well but mainly because it’s the only way I can wrestle a nappy onto a rolling 11 month old.

Agree, it's just trial and error. Depends on your baby's shape which brands fit best.

We have always mostly used Asda's nappies though for both our kids and usually found them work well.
