Toddler diarrhoea- help!

My little boy is 21 months old and has suspected toddler diarrhoea. He has a very loose watery poo once or twice a day but is otherwise happy and well, eats and drinks well etc. my issue is with nursery, he’s now been off for 2 weeks as he has to be clear for 48 hours but I’m struggling to see how I’m ever going to send him back due to this rule? Would a doctors letter work? Anyone come across this before?

My little one used to have chronic diarrhoea- I think we just got a letter from the GP that stated it wasn't a bug or anything and that was fine.
