Baby eating abroad

Hi all
i bought a few pouches with me abroad but DD has been hungrier than usual so I have been giving food from the hotel.
the health visitor said it’s a good way for her to explore new tastes but I’m feeling really concerned about the salt intake.
im away with my parents who have reassured it’s fine but these are also the people who used to let me sleep with a hat on and a pillow as a newborn lol.
am I silly to worry when it’s all healthy fresh food?

Just keep an eye on her, plenty of water / liquids and maybe ask the hotel if you can get any pouches from somewhere so she's not eating only hotel food. I think she'll be ok though. Enjoy your holiday

No problem!

At 8 months, I'd rather serve slightly saltier fresh, healthy food than pouches. Just avoid the very salty things and she'll be fine!

Your child should absolutely be eating proper food at 8 months (unless medically otherwise)

You say it's all fresh food, there really is no issue. I have always found food on holiday to be a lot better than we have here.

Oh God, I read the thread title and thought that's a weird delicacy! 🤦‍♀️🤭

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 15/06/2024 18:51

If you were to serve up high salt food every meal every day for weeks/months/years then it would be an issue.

This is a small amount of food for a few days. I assume some of the meals are fresh fruit and veg, yoghurt etc

Make sure you're giving water too especially if it's hot weather and enjoy your holiday.

Thanks ladies - I’ve been giving plenty of water so that’s good to know!

She’ll be absolutely fine. Just make sure as much as possible is fresh and low on processed, but it’s fine to feed normal food, same as you would in a restaurant at home.

I took my then 8 month old to Spain and he ate all the food - tapas, street food, loads of food from the market, basically everything I ate, he ate too. It’s a great way to explore new tastes and textures.
