What do I do now?

My DD had been showing all the signs of being ready to start potty training, Using the potty or the toilet at most nappy changes and telling me when she was going in her nappy. We got loads of pants and started yesterday. We did quite well I thought but this morning she really does not want me to take her nappy off from last night. I don't want to make a big deal of this but I would like to persevere seeing as we've started. Yesterday she was so keen. Any ideas?

Pretend it's just going to be changed, as usual, then potter off and "go and look for the nappies" (? or any excuse) while she's nekkid and just see how it goes? With a bit of luck she might need a quick wee before long and not mind having a go.. Miraculously "find" what you were looking for and sort her out if she gets really distressed, but just take the whole issue away from potty training and into pretend absent-mindedness!

Give it half an hour then try again? Does she like a bath maybe you could put her in the bath then put pants on when she gets out?

does she need to do a poo? it's quite normal for them to want to do that in their nappy.

otherwise i agree with the absent-mindedness technique! avoid a battle...

Thanks all, she is now eating breakfast in just her pyjama top and seems quite happy but really did not want to sit on the potty before breakfast nor did she want pants on. Thank goodness for heating, the house is warm so she can run around as she is.
