OU substitution rule, anyone used it?

I have made a complete mess of the assignment I need to post first thing tomorrow and want to use the substitution rule but can't find out how to use it. Do I just email my tutor and tell him?
Am feeling rubbish about making such a cock-up on this one
TIA

Yes, just email your tutor... BUT it is better to submit it and get the low mark because I think that they give you the average mark as your overall score so a low mark is better than a zero mark iyswim.

Email your tutor and ask what you should do?

Also... can you not submit it via the eTMA system? That would give you a couple of extra days to re-write it. You would just need to make sure that you submitted it by midnight on the deadline day!

Thanks. No my course doesn't use the eTMA system so I need to post tomorrow for it to get there on the deadline day (wednesday) if the post is behaving.
I'll email my tutor first thing and ask whether to post it off to him or not, I didn't think about the low mark being included too.

Does he live close enough for you to hand deliver? Or even better, could you call him and ask for an extension? My tutors were always good about that if necessary. My clients seem to give birth the week my TMA is due, like clockwork!

Lol @ your clients always giving birth at the wrong time. I can't hand deliver it either as I've got to work all day on wednesday.
I don't think he'd give me an extension as it's too late now maybe if i'd have asked at the end of last week he would. I don't even know what's thrown me off track, I've just had a very difficult couple of weeks with my son and being a single parent I can't turn off from it or leave someone else to deal with it. I don't think it's a real reason for an extension though. Sorry I'm waffling on now lol.
I'll post off what I can first thing and email to say I know it's rubbish anyway.
Thanks for the help both of you.

It's worth asking... even at this late date! I think he'd rather you asked and submitted it then not and asked for a substitution (well he would if he's any kind of tutor). Honestly... I've called my tutor just before deadline day and been granted the extension.

The worst that can happen is that he says no! But then you'd substitute anyway... so not that bad really.

Let me know what happens!

Well I emailed late last night saying that I was sending it but I had thought about just substituting it and was I correct in thinking (well not me as I had to ask on here lol) that I could substitute it if it was a low mark. He has replied saying as he understands it if a TMA is submitted that mark stands, so now I'm confused.
Anyway it's sent now and that's that, I'm pretty sure I've already passed the TMA part anyway as I've got 83% and above in all of them and this one was the second to last one.
Whatever happens, happens now so I can try to relax
Thanks again for your help

If it is a substitutable TMA then Starlight McKenzie is right and your tutor is mistaken, which is slightly worrying. You marks are great and you will be fine

I on the other hand am on MN with only 500 words of a 2000 word essay which needs to be submitted tomorrow written

sillybillybee · 08/04/2008 22:17

Yes I thought it was worrying too, having re-read the tiny bit of information I've got on it I understand that starlight was right. I honestly do not know how I have got the marks that I have, I mainly skim read the stuff and just re-read the bits I'm doing the TMA on although I was always good at essays and coursework in school , which I know has just made revision an awful lot harder.
Are you stuck with yours or just need motivating?
