Is filming your kid in the bath allowed?!

It's probably a sad state of affairs that I even have to ask, but we've just had a hysterical bath time with DS (19 months) where he learnt some new things and was laughing his head off and I wanted to capture it on my phone.

Obviously its just for the family album but I remembered that some newsreader got in trouble for taking photos of her kids in the bath - what is the score with it?

There's always film of babies in the bath on you've been framed.
Not that I watch it of course.

Cheers - it's crap that I even had to ask, isn't it?

My DH was a bit hesitant about me taking glorious shots of DD (20 months) 'swimming' (or 'wimmin', as she says) in the bath the other day. I don't get it - her little bottie is so licious, it deserves to be recorded!

Our best friends have a DD exactly the same age and they have some lovely video footage of the girls splashing in the bath together taken by her dad for the express purpose of embarrassing them both in front of their first boyfriends. I'm really pleased when anyone captures anything of DD's childhood, it's going so fast.

But yup, it is crap that we are almost encouraged by the media these days to question our motives in taking pictures of our own children naked. There are pix of me hanging out in the buff on holiday when I was about nine, I think, and I think even I might draw the line there with my little ones...

Pinchypants-we go wimmin too!

i take pics of dc in bath-theyre happy and cute pics!

Go for it. I think the media overplay those stories about people getting in trouble for getting naked pictures of their DCs developed. I am not sure that it is really true that anyone has ever got into trouble for a normal photo of a fun bathtime. Anyway digital photos and video cameras now mean you can record those moments without asking any third party to print them. I have loads of photos of DD running about naked , I love her little dimpled bottom and am happy I have it recorded for posterity.
