Baby boy sticking his hand down there during nappy change?!

Help please! DS is 10 months old and has already discovered the joy of playing with his own little thing. I don't mind it except when he's produced a big poo. When we change his nappy, he constantly sticks his hand down there to grab the little thing which is often covered in poo! We tried giving him a toy to grab on to but apparently nothing is more fun than his own thing! How do you deal with such situation please? Thanks!

putting a wet wipe over it so he grabs the wet wipe instead has worked for me

Strange eh? OP, you can say penis, it’s a technical and acceptable term.

'Little thing' mixed in with poo is all a little bit weird tbh

And ‘down there’. Sounds as if OP has shame surrounding this.

I come from a different culture and English is not my first language, so I don't have an perfect sense of what is or is not considered as "weird" when it comes to the language being used. At home and with friends and family (esp with elderly members) we all jokingly use these words as euphemism and nobody really raised an issue. As I said I don't really mind it and there's no shame around this. Just the technical inconvenience of changing his nappies without getting poo smeared everywhere :)
