Does anybody else get Christmas sorted months in advance?

Just wondering because I've just had the last of the presents delivered today and will be wrapping them tonight. Will stick them in the loft until December.

Presents no, will change my mind what to buy by Christmas that’s if I haven’t lost them. I also love the Christmas shopping and all the lights and decs it’s not the same just getting them out the loft all dusty and sad looking in 6 months time

i do start making puddings cakes and Jams and chutneys a little later in the summer

Its my DDs birthday thus month. She has just decided what she wants for that....

How do you know what they’ll want in 6 months?

I guess it depends on the age of the children. If you have a 1 year old who'll be 18 months at Christmas, you can probably select some toys that they'll like fairly easily ahead of time.

An older child, less so.

And then an adult, it's probably back to being easier. I could pick a present now for DH that I know he'd like in a few months time.

I don't do it though.

No way!

It would be very hard to buy thoughtful gifts that far in advance.

Starabella · 08/06/2024 14:53

I buy bits and bobs throughout out the year, whenever I see things on special etc or when I have some spare cash. They aren't the main gifts though as my kids change their mind about what they want too often in the weeks before. I don't buy sweets or chocs until nearer the time either. Things like small lego sets, Stocking fillers, onesies, board games etc are all purchased early.

Absolutely not! My two will be 5 and nearly 3 this Christmas, so still small, and tastes change.

Most I do is make a note of any toys/books etc. we come across during the year that the kids seem excited about/I like the look of and that forms the spine of what they get. I also love Christmas shopping, so there's that too.

Nah, I never even get started until December. To be fair I don’t have a huge extended family so there’s not masses to buy and we’ve so far never hosted on the day itself. Yet it always turns out fine.

Christmas to me is not a job to be completed, it's to be enjoyed

mondaytosunday · 08/06/2024 17:37

Not to that extent, but I know where we'll be and have ideas for gifts. In fact yesterday discovered one forgotten from last year!

UnravellingTheWorld · 09/06/2024 18:29

Wow, I aspire to be you! I would have started before now, but we recently moved and are redecorating (so still have half-full boxes but need the spare room to be finished to put storage furniture in there). It's nearly ready and I better get cracking, because there's another baby due in November after which I will be doing no shopping!

I'm declaring it now; NEXT year I will be finished by August at the latest!
