3 year old potty training challenges?

Hello

I am just trying again to get my 3 year old interested in potty training. age 3 years and 3 months old and Although wants rid of her nappies now as she hates them (she is in massive size as she is a big big for age and so we kind of need her out of them now) and is interested in potty training it seems, We have challenges.

She will ask for potty and not use it, just turns it into a game of wasting toilet paper, jumping on and off her toddler training seat thing and wanting to wash hands repeatedly.

Then pees on floor randomly. Has not pooed anywhere yet other than nappy.

Just looking for advice please? Thank you.

Have you been trying for long? This sounds like pretty normal behaviour to me for the beginning. Try and stay calm instead of getting annoyed - "we only need two squares of toilet roll", "wee wees go in the potty, don't they?"

Has she read a book about potty training? Princess Polly is fab - covers everything in simple terms, and my son still loves the boys' one after months and months

If you are sure that she is ready, it's definitely worth staying calm and persevering for few days before reevaluating.

Has she had any wees in the potty yet? Does she know the sensation of needing a wee?
I would just take the nappy off if you have time to be at home for a couple of days and catch her when she is weeing and place her on the potty until she gets it.

She has not peed on it yet either. She just peed the pants onto floor and I put her on potty but she didn't continue , was too late , she stopped and looked at me while the pee came down. She has not pooed since in nappy yesterday. So this is the 1st full day no nappy on we have been on and off with it recently though. She has tried the big loo and the small potty and I think we should maybe try sticking to small potty instead at the moment.

I got a car seat water proof cover thing too so will just need to see how we go with it I guess. Thanks everyone.

She peed tiny bit in potty couple months ago but didn't like it.

What is she wearing at home whilst you're trying to potty train? Can you keep her with nothing on her bottom half? A lot of children find that an easier way to learn the first step. Partly because it is more unpleasant if they pee over themselves and usually they don't want to repeat it if they can help it.

have had some pee success, but poo waited to come out when pull up was put on ( bedtime )
