Newborn - Crying

Hi all,

I have a newborn, he's 4 weeks old today (it's gone so quick!)

He seems like such an unhappy baby! When ever he wakes from a sleep/nap he wakes up screaming/crying, he never just opens his eyes and wakes up normal.
When ever he's awake, he's crying. He'll have the odd time after a feed where he stays awake and will just lie there for a bit on his mat, but after about 20 mins he's crying again. He never goes into a deep sleep In the day time, he'll toss and turn and then cry and wake himself up.

I have an 8 year old son, and he was never like this as a baby. Just hoping I'm not alone and things get better? Or if anyone thinks there's something I've missed? Lol.

Any advice hugely welcome!!
Thank you!! 🙂

Some babies cry a lot! It can be for no discernable reason but it could be due to silent reflux and /or cmpa or something else.
I had a very unhappy baby and for her it was multiple food allergies, mild-moderate actual reflux and severe silent reflux.

Mine was like this! Oh he cried and cried and cried. He did have silent reflux we think but who knows!
He did grow out of it and is the happiest toddler. I'd say around 4 months it had reduced a lot and by 8/9 months completely stopped although he's always been very sensitive and hard to please lol. He doesn't like the pram even now at 2.5!
I promise it gets better though.
