Need gift idea help 10yr old Boy

I would like to get a gift for a friends 10year old son, but I have no clue what? He doesn't play anymore (I was still playing with barbie at his age lol) he likes Golf, Brighton FC - but I know he doesn't need anything Golf or Football related, so I'm a bit stuck. I would like to buy something a bit different, but I don't know what is popular with 10yr old boys now. Do they like Marvel characters or Lego? What film or TV shows do they like? I'm also a crafter, so was thinking about making a PE bag or something with a popular character on to put his gift in - is that too childish? I know his Mum only buys him named brand clothes :-( so I expect he wouldn't want the bag without Nike on it or something (although maybe Nike isn't popular anymore either lol) I wish I was up to date on all these young trends, but I am so past it I have absolutely no clue.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Depending on your budget I'd get him an experience gift or a voucher and some of his favourite chocolate/sweets. I wouldn't make him something if he's into his brand name stuff- better to get him vouchers for a sports shop.

Lego have so many themed kits there may well be a golf themed one but Lego is seriously pricey.

Is there something he likes to do with his parents? At that age I had a favourite restaurant my mum would take me to as a treat a few times a year. You could get him a voucher for something like that?

Ask your friends about his interests re:favorite movies or characters and go from there. Could be stickers, figurines, posters, etc. You can make a printable calendar with his favorite team if there is one, or check out his favorite artist's official store and get him a CD or a signed photo or something like that. At that age I used to write letters to my favorite actors and I got signed pictures in return and loved that, haha!

You should check out Baker Ross' website as they have lots of themed crafts that my nephew loves. I recently gifted him the football ceramic money box! Something a little different and practical for his pocket money, hope this helps :)
