New Mum New Me

My son is now 1 years old - a crazy year. I feel like I've lost myself and found myself all at the same time.

I am a completely different person to who I was - everything about me has changed.

Did you feel like this when you became a Mum?

I don't feel like a different person but I definitely lost myself for a couple of years with my first and I found that very hard. I love being a Mum. Had my kids late and they're a dream come true after a long time thinking it would never happen. However, having had them has made me realise that they haven't brought meaning to my life in the way I thought they would. I thought being a mother would be enough for my life but it isn't!

Definitely relate to losing myself. As for being a new person, I was maybe a different person and not one I liked for a while. Then it got easier, I got used the parenting and felt more like myself again. I'm different now (62, but with a teen still at home) because I'm older and wiser.
