Baby toes!

My little one had quite scrunched up toes at birth she’s now 6 months and there a bit of overlapping and 2 toes seem to sit a bit lower than the others? I’ve got gp appt but any one had similar? I initially thought once she starts walking it will improve.

I can't remember the name for it but my dad has toes like this. He blamed his mum for 50+ years for making him wear shoes that were too small then I read something that said it's genetic.
It often can correct itself and probably the too small shoes contributed to my dad's toes too. It would hurt to mention it to your HV or GP next time you see them. My FIL has overlapping toes too so I think it's more common than you realise...you just don't spend a great deal of time staring at other people's toes!

My 4yos are still like that! Worse if anything. I asked the GP and HV a few times and no one seemed bothered. Doesn't seem to bother her at all. She was late to walk at about 18 months but she was late to roll and crawl too so I don't think it was to do with the toes.

Watching with interest!

Another watching with interest for my 3yo.

I didn't think I'd done badly with shoes but the mum guilt I have is burned into me. I hope they grow out of it.

This looks like "curly toe" - I took my son to specialist and he said he will either grow out of it and if not by age of four they do small surgery to release the tendon. Its not because of shoes.

I feel I should add some context to the shoes comment. My dad's mum wasn't the best and he constantly had sores on his toes as they were several sizes too small and had permanent blisters and they caused him a lot of discomfort. He had to make a pair of shoes last several years so could be say a size 8infant still being forced to wear size 6 infant shoes for example.

If you get modern shoes to last that long it would be an absolute miracle and how I would go with it would be very rare to have a parent like my nan nowadays and you don't have to worry!

I was worried my DD would have trouble getting shoes to fit her weird little feet, but it's never been an issue - no red marks on the toes etc.
