Lifting baby above head (12 months old)

Hey all

First time poster here so please be gentle!

Our daughter (12 months old) always comes to me demanding to be lifted/bounced.. she absolutely loves being lifted to head height and down, and when i stop wants to bounce with me supporting her weight.

I never let go of her ( i dont throw her in the air) and i dont lift her with sudden motions or anything like that

A friend has suggested that i could be risking damage to her neck however? obviously i dont want to take any risks with her health, but honestly cannot see any risk in lifting her up and down and letting her bounce?

Am i wrong? am i taking a risk?
Thanks.

Your friend is, politely, a fool. This would be true if your DD was a tiny baby with little or no neck/head control. But a 12 month old loves this (and if she was anywhere near my brother would be tossed into the air too!).

Your friend is crackers. The only drawback to this is the damage to parents' arms when they continue to demand it as three year olds. Grin

Keep having fun with your baby - if it was hurting her neck she wouldn't be coming back for more.

You should see what we get up to at baby yoga… your DD will be fine

You friend is a good friend but takes reading total BS as fact.

It would be interesting how she was educated with this tripe. Would you mind asking her OP and let us know as I'd find it interesting, for me, anyways

Thanks in advance either way
