Is anyone elses child obsessed with being the main part in plays?
DS1 loves being the centre of attention but he isn't very popular at school so it doesn't normally happen. (He'll just start singing and 'rocking' in the middle of the playground by himself for instance and then wonders why the kids think he's odd!)
Anyway he's always managed to get good parts in plays at school...probably because he's so animated and OTT, in reception he got to play the part of Joseph in the nativity play, he got the main part in a play they did about litter, he was the main part in the "big" play that took place at the city hall with other primary schools etc...
Anyway they're doing another play about David and Goliath and he 'demanded' the main part of either David or Goliath. The teacher went against this however and chose 2 other kids for the parts, one of them being ds's friend and he really kicked off, said the school was crap, everyone hated him, his friend shouldn't have had the best part, it was so unfair etc etc...
I've never known a kid care so much about school plays! whenever he's in a play and he's NOT the main part he makes sure he does more than he's supposed to during the performance in order to get noticed....
Should I get him in drama classes do you think?
