1 yr old throwing up after eating

DS is 14 months and for about 3 weeks now has been throwing up around once a day, always immediately after eating, most frequently at breakfast. We went to the GP when it had been going on for about 8 days and were advised it was probably a tummy bug. No one else at home or nursery has had it. There is no single ingredient that connects all the vomiting, seems to be caused by over-eating and often follows a cough. His dad has a hiatus hernia so I suspected reflux.
We've tried infant gaviscon, and for 3 days he didn't throw up, but he has occasionally thrown up even after a dose of gaviscon with his food.
He doesn't have signs of dehydration and is otherwise well, chunky etc but I haven't had him weighed regularly so not 100% sure he's on track for growth.
We will take him back to docs this week, but in the meantime has anyone experienced this?
Thanks

Can you get to the weigh-in clinic this week and have his weight and height measured? You can also ask the HV about the vomiting Flowers
