Hi my eldest got chicken pox when my newborn was 6 weeks- the newborn was fine and didn’t catch it, they were in the same room during the day but i discouraged touching. I was breastfeeding which may have helped? Good luck!

DS caught it really bad when DD was 6 weeks but she didn't catch it. Midwife said if she does catch the pox then treat them like normal (oat baths/calpol if needed). She also said that DD might have still have immunity from them from me at that age. Hope your little ones are okay.

DD started getting the spots when DS was about 10 days old. He didn’t get it, midwife said he’d probably have immunity from me and that even if he did catch it it’s usually on the milder end of the scale in babies. I suppose they don’t have the co-ordination to scratch either. If you’re still worried probably worth a call to the health visitor (if yours is decent, mind was) or GP.

POXCLIN !! Literally the best thing to ever grace this earth if your kid has chicken pox. Can get it in boots/superdrug ect

My youngest was 19 months old when big bro got it, I was still breastfeeding so think that maybe helped him with immunity.

I was advised NOT to bath after the first 2 days. The idea is to dry the pox out as soon as possible. The historic advice of soaking in the bath is being viewed as outdated more and more. The repeated wetting and then drying of the scabs can make them itch more.

I was told to avoid calamine lotion too. Cool clothes which covered as much as possible ( to prevent absent minded scratching )

My two absolutely sailed through it with the Poxclin and didn't even itch once. Wouldn't know they had it - other than the pox!

As per your other thread.
DS2 caught it at one week old, very mild despite me bf.
Now 19 and never had it again.

My brother and sister had it when I was a very young baby and I did not catch it x

Our niece had them when her sister was newborn, our kids caught it from her but the newborn did not. Our youngest was 7 month old and covered in spots but 2.5 month old niece got nothing.

If you're breastfeeding and you have had chicken pox yourself, it's likely your baby won't catch it or will only get it very mildly.
