15 weeks old baby sleep

My DS is currently 15 weeks. Not sure if he’s going through the 4 month regression already but in the past week it has been so difficult to put him down to sleep for the night. We’d normally try to put him down around 8pm in our dark bedroom with white noise sound machine on and he’d scream as soon as he’s in the bassinet. After waiting for him to cry for 15-20min, we’d pick him up and comfort and then put him down, then same cycle restarted again. We’ve ended up with putting him back on the boobs and feeding him to sleep every night in the last few nights, as nothing worked before stopped working anymore (rocking etc). In the daytime though, he can nap by soothing himself with his thumb and me patting on this bum in the bassinet. I don’t really know what we can do now. Is he a bit too early for sleep training or should we just continue to feed him to sleep? I’m worried that he’d wake up all the time in a few months and wouldn’t go back to sleep without feeding. Thanks in advance for the advice.
