Healing of finger wound

I’m sorry if this isn’t allowed. I’m just anxious. I trapped my 1 year old son’s finger in a door on Monday, I was beyond hysterical when I realised and his finger looked horrific. I rushed him to A&E where he had an x ray, there were no fractures and the doctor didn’t seem too concerned, he bandaged it up and said it would heal on its own. It’s only been 72 hours but it still looks awful, it looks like some tissue is protruding from the cut on his finger tip, is that a good or worrying sign when it comes to a healing wound? I am already seeing my GP today so I’m not asking as a replacement to medical advise, just looking for anyone who has had a similar experience and any advice x

So sorry you're going through this - trust your instinct and push for another opinion or go back to hospital if you're not happy. We haven't had the same situation but DC burned fingers and the way it was handled at the hospital was shambolic. We were not happy and went back in the end and were so pleased we did. GOOD LUCK to you and very best wishes to your child for smooth recovery/healing.

I would see if you can be seen by a nurse at your GP practice today and if not go back to a and e.
