Sickness

Hello, new mum here to a 3 week old baby boy weighing 6 pound just looking for any advice or experience on sickness.

He's been downing his feeds like mad recently so the midwife said for him to go onto 4oz. Lately he's been very unsettled (usually he's very chilled) and yesterday morning he was vomiting huge amounts of milk. Took him to A&E for them to tell me I'm overfeeding him and they wanted him back down to 2oz. However, he constantly screams and cries for more as 2oz just doesn't seem to fill him up I'm also worried he'll drop in weight as it took him awhile to build it up so I've put him onto 3oz which he seems content on but he's still throwing up. Is this normal? Has anyone had the same sort of problem? Any recommendations on how to reduce the sickness? Thank you!

I would take him back to the doctor. Consistent throwing up usually doesn't happen from too much milk. It could be a gastrointestinal issue.

If you are using tap water in your formula it may be related to the water contaminant issue.

Either way, I'd take him back if he's still throwing up.

Do give me an update! Would love to know if he's doing better!

Hello! I reduced his feed to see if maybe he was just puking from that he's got better still pukes up some of it but from what I've heard it's perfectly normal. He's due a 6 week check up next week so I plan on asking the doctor then but he went to get weighed a few days ago and he's finally 7 pound so I'm glad he's still gaining the weight well ☺️ thank you for your help and concern though! 😊
