Baby poo...

My newborn is 8 weeks and her bowel movements have changed.

Up until about a week and a half ago, she would poo every day, sometimes multiple times a day.

Lately, she'll poo every 3-4 days, and have an absolute massive one.

She's fed from both the breast and formula.

She'll strain occasionally and fart with no problems.

Before when I'd change her nappy, there was more often than not little dribbles of poo in there. Now there's absolutely nothing until she has an enormous poo.

Any other parents experienced this?

Sounds fairly normal and that her gut has perhaps matured a little? How is she in herself? And is she producing plenty of wet nappies?

Agree with above, sounds like both my kids when around that age. If she appears to be struggling with a bowel movement, seems in pain or has any other signs something may be wrong definitely speak to your HV or GP

@CadyEastman She's been perfectly fine. Plenty of wet nappies!

@ILikePistachios She seems to be in pain when she's straining to get her poo out. I asked the doctor when she was at the mum/baby check about it, they felt her tummy and said it was nice and soft, and that generally it's nothing to worry about until it goes over a week with no poo! Seems like quite a long time.
