Baby bath - help!

My 3 month old is quite a long baby and she is cramped in her Schnuggle newborn bath. What can I use next if she still can’t sit unaided? A bath seat or a larger version of the baby bath? I’m confused looking online at what is best at this point.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I don’t understand how a 3 month old doesn’t fit in the baby Schnuggle bath. My 15 month old still fits in there and even my 5yo sat in there for a laugh recently (of course that actually was very cramped). Can you buy the toddler version of the Schunggle if you really need more room?

Hopingtobe4 · 17/05/2024 22:55

You can get seats for the bath that recline. We used to call it a sun lounger...I think angel care does them and amazon etc.

I don't understand how the schnuggle fits babies much beyond 4 months! My DC isn't long but already looking cramped. Placemaking...

Same happened here at 3/4 months. We moved to the Angelcare bath seat but don’t think he’ll be in that another 2 months tbh! Not sure what comes next after that.

Lemon57 · 18/05/2024 07:08

Thanks all. She still fits currently but I don’t think we’re going to get use much longer out of it so she’s comfortable. @Hopingtobe4 yes I’ve just been looking at one that is more of a lounger rather than a seat! Might have to use as a stop gap.

Hello sorry to bring this out at 2025 but did you find anything that worked? My DD is 14 weeks old and is in the angel care seat but wriggles her way and pushes herself forward and rolling to side nd were so scared she's going to hurt her neck. But she can't have one of those chairs for 6montbs as she can sit but not unaided. She's average size but very strong willed and is already rolling and she loves the bath but atessing her out now. Not sure if schnugge will contain her

Arm round baby. Baby's head in crook of your elbow or against inner forearm. Your hand underneath their arm holding under armpit.
Normal bath. Free hand to wash hair etc.

SusieSheepie · 24/04/2025 22:46

You can get really big sponges for them to lie on in a normal, shallow bath.

This,it really is just common sense.

Just hold baby in the big bath with your hand under their neck and head/upper back or your elbow. Use other hand to wash baby and splash a bit.
When my second arrived there was no room for any kind of bath seat alongside her toddler brother. I just held her. It was fine. Actually much nicer for baby to feel their body floating free instead of constrained by cold hard plastic seat sides.

Flora0112 · 24/04/2025 22:57

Yeah I'm thinking we might just have to get in the bath with her. I never bought a baby bath we used sink then angel care seat jn normal bath and really don't want to buy a bath but she is determined to get out that bath chair 🤣🤣🤣

Yes honestly just hold them in the bath, one arm free to bath, have the towel ready draped on your shoulder. There’s really no need for all these products when you already have an actual bath. Or same but in the kitchen sink!

I found that really hard. Slippery and an awkward angle. Hated only having one hand free and not even one hand really as it's only as free as something still in reach so if you've left a bottle or something a cm too far away you can't get it.

I don't know what a Schnuggle is but we used an Angelcare bath seat from birth up till when they were comfortably sitting up.

This is what I used before the seat. Brilliant 👍

Flora0112 · 25/04/2025 07:13

The issue is I know to hold her with an arm and wash with other but she's 14 weeks and really bloody strong and wriggles out. We have the angel care seat and she basically tries to fling herself forward and roll to the side and were scared she's going to hurt her neck. She loves swimming and splashing so I think holding her with one arm like we did as a newborn would be hard work and she's not quite ready for a laundry basket or proper sit up seat. I think we're going to try one of us holding her in the bath getting in with her to see if that'll help and I've bought her some toys to see if she'll get distracted by them and not try launching herself 😆😆

Schnuggle worked for my wriggly boy until he was 7 months old - i started putting it in the bath so I could shower at the same time.

  • the other benefit of the schnuggle is that you don't have to fill the whole bath, or bend over it.
