Type of soles for first shoes

Hi there,

Just wanted some advice on first shoes. I went to an independent shop and they advised soft, flexible soles like these https://www.startriteshoes.com/products/roar-bright-blue-nubuck-boys-riptape-pre-walkers

We also didn’t get a good measurement as he was screaming crying and wriggling everywhere. We planned to go again and do another measurement. The shop used a start rite gauge.

However, we got his feet measured at John Lewis as he surprisingly sat really well, he didn’t wriggle or move at all! They used a Clark’s measuring gauge and said he needed a harder sole like these

Which type of shoe/ sole does he need? I haven’t bought him any yet as I’m not sure which to buy. He has been walking since mid March, we’ve just using those soft leather shoes and barefoot around the house. He is much more confident now so looking forward to getting those first shoes!

Thank you.

Roar, Bright blue nubuck boys rip-tape pre-walkers

Specifically designed for babies delicate feet, Roar has a playful Jurassic print. Buy now at Start-Rite.

clarkes roamer shoes are good for firsts. Measure feet with him bearing bodyweight if poss as they come up a bit bigger when "splayed"

i was recommended those in the image - with the dinosaurs.

I knew several small children with them!

I think I was initially worried they were too solid, but they were fine.

Thanks so much @nomchonge1 @MidnightPatrol well they didn’t do either of those in his size but we ended up with an expensive pair of camper first walkers instead from the independent shop! They had a more flexible sole like the dinosaur ones but still quite sturdy, he seems to be very happy in them- scuffed and marked on day 1 of wear 😅
