My daughter

I’m wondering if anyone could share their experiences, if their child/children are like my daughter. I’ve been worried about her from 9 months old where she never turned round at all when you called her name, so much so me and my husband had her hearing tested twice. She isn’t deaf or hard of hearing- hearing tests came back clear.

she was always a quiet content baby and never cried much, she smiled at you but always even now avoids eye contact, she never acknowledges other children and never played with them at nursery or playgroup either. Didn’t talk at all and said some words from the age of 2, we are under speech and language therapy and she talks a little bit now one word phrases, singing verses of songs repeatedly. If you ask her what some things are she will say sometimes what they are for example, hat, shoes, juice etc all one words though.

she’s now 3 and a half and she’s had assessments done at private nursery and her main stream nursery that states she has a development age of 6-11 month old baby. She’s extremely delayed. She goes into her own little world a lot of the time, has extreme meltdowns, still doesn’t turn around when you call her name, doesn’t listen to instruction, she’s still in nappies and doesn’t know how to dress herself.

I think I already know deep down, but I wanted to hear from other parents who experienced the same and if they had an outcome of an autism diagnosis?

we are currently on a very long waiting list for the neurological pathway team to assess my daughter for autism.

(I have posted here as well as SEN thread as I didn’t get an answer on there)
