Submitting an application in order to visit a nursery

I have two toddlers, one already in nursery and one isn’t. We’ll be moving house soon and I’d like both toddlers to go to a new nursery.

I contacted one of the nurseries that I’m interested in and they said that parents are asked to fill out an application form for a place first in order to visit. This form asks for the children’s full name, address, birth certificate, NHS number, NI of the parents and loads of things like that.

When visiting nurseries for my daughter, none of this was asked prior to visiting. I only had to fill out an application form once I’d decided on which one I was interested in. Does this sound normal to some? I don’t get why I’d be applying for a place when I haven’t even visited the nursery yet. Not sure if I’m just overthinking it but seemed a bit odd!

Does seem odd. Just ask to visit rather than fill in the form - ring again and say you haven't decided.
