Holiday without OH

So our family has been offered a free all inclusive holiday for a week abroad, which sounds like an absolute dream - it's through a family member so no scam, just a very lovely gesture. My OH doesn't like flying, or the heat, and doesn't want to go. I however like these things, and don't think the children (6M and 9F) should be limited because of his dislikes, so I think it's fine to go and he can stay home. I get he's worries about flying and being in a different country to his children if anything goes wrong, but I also feel if it's that much of an issue for him he should just suck it up 🤷‍♀️. Not sure if AIBU?

Not in the slightest! Go!

It's absolutely fine. Go and enjoy! For practical reasons (we have animals and a farm), dh and I often holiday individually with one or both children. It's lovely. I'm taking one to Spain next month without him. He's taking the other to France in August without me. We each have different interests anyway and would probably prefer to do slightly different things on a holiday. So it means we each get to enjoy those and the dc get different experiences too.

Absolutely go! Your poor children should never miss out because their Father is a drip. Sorry this sounds harsh.

His choice not to go! It’s a free holiday!!!
Your kids are old enough to go with you.
I traveled with mine when they were even smaller and was totally fine.

Absolutely go,no way you should miss out! He'll be fine. I've done loads of trips with just dc because DH had to work. Do it!

Whisperingsummerishere · 15/05/2024 12:17

Don't feel bad. Hardly like dh isn't getting a break of sorts with no dc at home!!

TakeOnFlea · 15/05/2024 12:25

Why should you all miss out because he's being wet?
