No friends at secondary support club for parents!

Ahh I knew this would happen deep down!

Daughter has absolutely ZERO friends at school. She had a couple of "acquaintances" but nothing meaningful..just never had much in common.

These have now all formed groups after moving up to secondary. She did make a friend and my heart leapt... But it didn't work out.

I know there's nothing I can do other than sit and watch and be there, but it is so sad. Just thought, I can't be the only on who feels sad at their child's lack of friends. So thought I'd start a support thread.

Advice is welcome. But:

  1. No she isn't neuro divergent, it's been ruled out.
  1. Tried numerous after school and extra curricular things. She still does. Enjoys them but no friends gained from them.
  1. No, she absolutely forbids any help from school as that would be painfully embarrassing (her views not mine!!)
  1. Tried counselling, social skills sessions, various books on how to be a good friend, girl squads, etc.

Would love to hear from others going through similar. Or from others in y8 and beyond who have come through this and their kid is now happily socialising and doing things kids should be doing... Even texting would be nice!
