Baby refusing bottles during the day

Hi,
My 7 month old (2 months premature) has started refusing some of his bottles during the day so looking for some advice?

He was exclusively breastfed up until a few months ago and is now on formula. We don't do strict feeding times, we usually go by him when he's hungry but he usually is every 3.5/4 hours give or take.

We started him on solids at 6 months and he's taken to it really well, loves food and clearly enjoys it! Sometimes even getting frustrated if he's not getting it quick enough.

We are still kind of in first tastes side of things so just still introducing things to him but what I have started doing regularly now (and he enjoys it) is half of a Weetabix in the morning mixed with about 1.5oz of formula. Sometimes a tiny piece of banana mashed through, he absolutely loves it!

Now my issue is that throughout the day after he wakes up he is so uninterested in his bottles, he is crying and we give him a bottle which he starts to take then pushes it away and cries! But if I was to get some food and put it on a spoon and feed him that way, he would gladly eat it.

As I mentioned he's not really in a routine but what usually happens is he'll get up in the morning about 7ish - get fed and then go back to sleep for 45 mins to an hour and a half. After this he'll get up, nappy change, dressed and then I'll offer him the Weetabix which he devours. He then can sometimes go 3 hours after this which would then be 5 hours after his initial bottle before he even is interested! Even then it's a back and forward struggle.

We even tried at the weekend to get him up in the morning, not give him the bottle but offer him Weetabix first with a small amount of formula and then the rest in a bottle - nope point blank refused!

With the hot weather recently we have been giving him sips of water, he was getting frustrated with the sippy cup so just as a way of getting him to have water in the heat I put water in one of his bottles so he'd be able to drink sips which he did. One time he even gladly sucked and got water but then when I switched it to a bottle with milk he pressed his lips shut 😂😂

Im at a loss here and trying not to say what am I doing wrong? Should I get us into more of a routine? He isn't taking a lot of milk during the day at all. Still up during the night for feeds too.

Any tips would be appreciated!
