im just looking for some reassurance or advice from anyone with a similar experience, DS is 4 weeks old tomorrow and has been congested since we arrived home from hospital, I originally put this down to him being a c section, however it then continued and turned to green snot (sorry for details lol) he then started to have a cough every now and then, and was sucking in ribs, after a trip to the doctor was told it was bronchiolitis and that he was probably at the peak of it and would last another week, that was now almost 3 weeks ago and he is still very congested, and has sticky eyes, when will he start to improve and should I return to drs?, everyone is saying it can last 4/6 weeks, just hate seeing him so bunged up

Hi @Springmum24
My DD had bronchiolitis at 3 weeks old and I don't want to worry you but she did need a hospital admission so don't be afraid to go back to the GP if you are worried. It peaked on day 5 and she recovered fully and quite quickly. Have they taken a swab to confirm bronchiolitis? When they did my DD's it also came back showing that she had flu as well as RSV so no wonder she was so poorly. I called 999 when she was sucking in at the rib cage (had already done 111, out of hours GP and our own doctor's surgery so I felt I was out of options!). We got a humidifier which helped, and also standing in the bathroom with the shower running hot for the steam helped too. Although they're too young for calpol, DD was given a tiny dose every 8 hours at the hospital. Hope they feel better soon 💕

Thanks for your reply @ohsohopeful sorry to hear your little one was so poorly! They didn’t do a swab so that might be worth asking,I think I will go back just to be on the safe side!
