Reflux flare 6 month

Hi ladies

my 6.5 month old seems to be having a bit of a reflux flare. She is fine in the day but by her nighttime bottle (which she used to like as 10oz to see her through the night) seems to be an issue.

she squirms and grunts and arches her back like she used to. She has a little cry and once she’s sort of digested some of the milk she will then nod off.

as soon as I noticed the signs I reduced her bedtime bottle and will reduce even more tomorrow night - never ever force the bottle on her I always let her take what she wants. She has a dummy and when she isn’t sure if she wants anymore bottle I give the dummy and let her spit out and reach for the bottle if she wants more etc.

she started weaning a couple of weeks ago. I’ve avoided anything acidic and have been making foods myself rather than pouches as these all have lemon juice in which is no good for her. again, I let her take what she wants during weaning and she never has much. I always stop when I see she’s not interested.

she’s been off her milk which I can only assume is due to the reflux and isn’t interested in a midday bottle anymore. Happy to go for morning bottle, weaning, PM bottle, bedtime bottle.

i thought id seen the back of the reflux as we was in a really good place. So far I’ve reduced the teat sizes again, reduced Oz in each bottle, not given any acidic fruit/veg during weaning, and stopped going by her times and started waiting for her to cry for bottle so I know she is hungry.

is there anything else I can do? I am so gutted as hate seeing her uncomfortable and hate that it’s my fault for not realising instantly.

Our DD is 9 months old and weaning. GP wanted to taper her off Gaviscon at 7 months but it made her reflux come back with vengeance so we are still on Gaviscon and try again tapering off at 1 year.

Her typical day is
0630: wake up
0700: morning bottle 7oz
0830: porridge & fruit puree breakfast
0930: nap
1100: 5oz bottle
1300: Lunch either a large cube of something I've made or a pouch if we are out
1400: nap
1530: 5oz bottle
1700: Tea main and yoghurt with fruit
1900: bedtime bottle 7oz

Offering sips of water at meals and the past few days in between to keep hydrated

@mrsmacmc thank you. I have been debating whether to introduce more solids but have been worried she might drop another bottle when she’s only on small amounts still.

have yiu found the solids have helped to improve the reflux at all?

I would have no problem offering her a little bit of lunch as well, probably same as whatever she has for breakfast, if it will help her with her reflux but really conscious of her little belly being too full for milk and then not getting the nutrients she needs! I did recently chat to the HV team about this but they fobbed me off that I need to speak to a Dr but the Dr said the HV!
