Baby dropping bottles

Evening

DD started weaning a couple of weeks ago. Hasn’t been overly interested, probably has a teaspoon of food each morning.

have noticed that she doesn’t seem interested in her mid day bottle anymore. My understanding is that they aren’t meant to drop bottles until weaning is well established and they’re having a proper meal.

she will have her morning bottle when she wakes up, usually either goes back to bed or has a little bit of play time, then the weaning with some sips of water (weaning is done no later than around 9:30am each morning), and then seems to hold out for another bottle until around 2pm.

I did speak to the health visitors and they didn’t really know what to say. They said it’s not normal and try to increase her solid intake to breakfast lunch and dinner but obviously that’s of no benefit to me or DD as she isn’t interested in the solids.

should I be concerned and push the health visitors for more? Or is this common in the early weeks of weaning?

I'd try not giving her the solids in the morning and see if she's any more keen for her bottle just to rule out it being anything else.

@CadyEastman Thank you. Do you know what else it could be by any chance?

Not sure? Maybe a bug?

Is she still not taking her bottles @Ppeter500 or have things improved? Wink

@CadyEastman Hey thanks so much for checking in! Still the same. Today I didn’t do any weaning just to see and she had all bottles as normal. Seems the solids is really filling her up even though she’s not having much. I’m going to try to do a little bottle before solids moving forward to help ensure she doesn’t lose weight!

Glad that you've given her a little break to see if she drank her milk. I think that sometimes we think that once you e started weaning you have to give them something every day but that's just not the case.

I think that offering her milk before solids sounds like a great way to go too Wink

@CadyEastman Absolutely. I was shocked if I’m honest that I told the health visitors that she had dropped a bottle and they suggested incorporating 3 meals a day. Definitely not the way to go.

thank you so much for helping / supporting!
